Traditional Thai Massage Diploma

“I have been studying and practicing holistic therapies since 2001, I have experienced a wide range of teaching styles as both a learner and a tutor in a massage school. I still now consider my training experience in Traditional Thai Massage to be by far the best training I have had. The course was intense, I felt like I was doing Thai massage in my sleep by the end of it, the focus on practical work and the repetitive nature helped me to learn quickly and effectively, I was able to confidently provide an effective, flowing and deeply relaxing treatment in a very short period of time. For as long as I have been teaching, I have wanted to create my own Thai massage course, run in a similar traditional way to the way I learned. Moving to Ireland gave me the fresh start I needed to take the time to build this new course, with the blessing of my own tutor (Di Faulkner) I have created a very similar style of course which I am very excited to share with you.” – Kerry Longworth – The Barefoot Therapist

Barefoot Therapist Training –  Traditional Thai Massage Diploma – This course will provide therapists with the skills and knowledge to safely offer Traditional Thai Massage in their practice.

Course Cost – €1100 (Early bird discount price €900 available until April 1st 2025)

Why study Thai Massage? – Your clients will love the experience, no messing around getting undressed, no sticky oils, just walk in wearing something comfy, lie down and relax, they will leave feeling rebalanced, refreshed, rejuvenated, energized, and often a little taller. Learning to use your bodyweight to apply pressure will not only allow you to apply pressure in a way which your clients are more able to relax in to, but will also protect your hands and wrists from the pressure that usually goes along with strong treatments. You will learn to use your feet and knees to apply broader pressure, allowing you to work deeply with less strain on your body, and less post massage soreness for your clients. This treatment is likely to change how you approach all of your treatments, enhancing all aspects of your practice as well as adding a valuable new skill to your treatment range. By studying Thai Massage, you can provide your clients with a unique and satisfying experience. Moreover, the techniques of using bodyweight to apply pressure not only help clients relax but also protect your hands and wrists. Applying broader pressure using feet and knees allows you to work deeply with less strain on your body, reducing post-massage soreness for your clients. Learning Thai Massage can transform your approach to treatments, enhancing all aspects of your practice and expanding your range of therapeutic skills.

What to expect on the course – The course will run over 8 full days, focusing mainly on practical work. Thai Massage is a very physical, floor based treatment, be prepared to be sitting and working on the floor and for the course to be physically demanding. You will learn a routine in this time which will give you a framework which can be adapted to your treatment style and to meet your clients individual needs. You will learn a range of techniques, assisted stretches and adaptations which will allow you to safely provide a deep, rebalancing, energising treatment while protecting your joints from the strain of providing a deep treatment.

Day 7 and 8 will include 2 practical assessments, ensuring that you are able to safely provide treatments and have assimilated the knowledge from the course

Following the 8 days of practical tuition, you will have 6 months to complete 4 cases studies (4 clients receiving a minimum of 6 treatments each.) Once your case studies have been submitted and assessed you will receive your certificate.
